  • HydraForce Ltd. Named Manufacturer of the Year at “Made in the Midlands” Awards Night
    HydraForce Hydraulics Ltd. was named Large Manufacturing Company of the Year at the “Made in the Midlands” Awards night to celebrate manufacturing excellence. The event is organized by Insider Media Limited, the United Kingdom’s national Business to Business media company.

    For those outside the UK, the “Midlands” is the geographic region in the center of England which is considered the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries. Birmingham is its largest city.

    The award recognized HydraForce for actively investing in Midlands manufacturing by building a 120,000 square-foot production facility on Aston Hall Road in the Birmingham Advanced Manufacturing Hub, and employing more than 300 people there. “HydraForce showed dedication to exports, training and quality improvement and fought to stay in the Midlands,” said Jason Mohammad, the broadcasting personality who presented the award.

    Peter Macdonald, HydraForce Managing Director, and Christine Tolley, Human Resources Manager, accepted the Award at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole NEC, along with a team of employees from across the business.

    HydraForce Hydraulics Ltd. was one of eight companies recognized at the event in this particular category. The others included Purity Brewing Company, Fracino Expresso Machines, Cooper Research Technology, ECAM, Portmeirion Group, Warner Edwards Distillery and Sorion Electronics.

    HydraForce Hydraulics Ltd., designs and manufactures high performance electrohydraulic control products at its new 120,000 sq. ft. production facility in Birmingham, Great Britain. The company employs 360 people in Birmingham and Europe and 1,000 worldwide.

    HydraForce Earns On-Time Delivery Award From
    Fluid System Components
    HydraForce was named Best On-Time Vendor Partner for 2015 by its distributor Fluid System Components. Craig Sinnott and Eric Lau accepted the award at the FSC sales meeting in April. HydraForce supplies FSC with a variety of hydraulic cartridge valves for use on mobile equipment. “I was honored to accept this award on behalf of all of the hard-working people at HydraForce, especially while standing in front of some of our competitors,” said Craig Sinnott, HydraForce General Sales Manager. “FSC is a good example of the talented distributors that represent HydraForce,” he added. “We were very pleased to accept the FSC on-time delivery award,” said Eric Lau, HydraForce Regional Sales Manager who handles the FSC account, “But the real credit should go to our production scheduler and his team on the plant floor. It’s due to their efforts that we were able to support FSC with on-time delivery last year and we’re very thankful for their efforts.”

    FSC is a fluid power distributor serving Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. They have been in business for over 45 years and, in addition to representing HydraForce and other respected brand names in the fluid power industry, they build hydraulic power units, manifold assemblies, electrical and electronic controls, and offer hydraulic repair services.

       EDI/BUSINESS APPLICATIONS ANALYST – Lincolnshire, IL, US

    Position Summary:
    Provides business and technical systems analysis, development and systems support efforts for mission critical business processes and business applications. Individual should have at least 5 years of experience working as an EDI Analyst with aspirations of becoming more involved as a Business Applications Analyst. Defines and configures EDI maps and business processes for the on-boarding of EDI Trading Partners.     Responsibilities:
    • Design and create new EDI business processesfacilitating trading partner on-boarding.

       PLANT MANAGER – Lincolnshire, IL, US

    Summary:
    The Plant Manager position oversees management of all areas of a single facility manufacturing operation. This will include assembly and test,. This person will interface with and team with other departments that provide manufacturing support such as manufacturing engineering, supply chain/purchasing, warehouse, and material handling. Overall, this position is responsible for a single facility to produce products and direct activities so that products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. Directing and monitoring department managers, supervisors, and team leads to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.

    Essential Functions:
    • Reviews, analyzes, modifies, and implements efficient and effective department processes, policies, and procedures.

    • Monitors capacity and production needs, and ensures plant has available resources to meet production requirements, including manpower planning, parts/supply availability, machine capacity, and distribution.
    • Maintains knowledge of machine capacity and develops solutions for efficient utilization.
    • Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; manages expenses within approved budget constraints.
    • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops production staff; manages schedules and workflow.
    • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
    • Develop a high-performance workforce promoting and upholding company operations standards and culture (on-time delivery, quality, lean, six sigma, 7S, etc.)
    • Coordinate capital projects within plant, along with facilities, engineering, and operations manager (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).

    Skill Requirements:
    • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
    • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
    • Very comfortable with Excel, Production/Capacity Planning software, Material Planning/ERP systems and various other manufacturing related programs

    Travel:
    • Limited travel. May require infrequent (1-2 times a year) to international locations as needed for projects/training.

    Required Education and Experience:
    • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline. MBA preferred.
    • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer
    • 3-5 years of operations leadership experience in a process oriented manufacturer, managing 4-5 direct staff and minimum 100 employee population.
    • Experience in a multi-shift non-union environment with a global scope with logistics, shipping, suppliers, customers, and internal operations.
    • Bi-Lingual Skills (Conversational Spanish, preferred), highly desirable

       PROCESS ENGINEERING MANIFOLD DOCUMENTATION TECHNICIAN –

    Education and Experience:

    • Experience in process engineering skill sets.

       BUYER – 6 MONTH FTC – UK

    We are recruting a Buyer to join us on a 6 month FTC basis. Working as part of the strategic team, your role will be to support and effectively deliver on key strategic projects that support business growth and operational excellence.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Support the strategic buyers with new product introductions into HydraForce through driving supplier selection to preferred suppliers and developing a sustainable purchasing strategy for the new product to meet the business need
    • Creation of resource packages, to include drawings/specifications, annual volumes and target pricing for selected suppliers
    • To manage the creation and completion of the PPAP process and support root cause analysis for supplier concerns, while ensuring effective delivery performance, tracking and visibility of PPAP’s to the business.
    • Creation of price and supply contracts, generation of PPV through price negotiations.
    • Support the strategic buyers to effectively manage supplier transition projects, ensuring you are the point of contact for all commercial issues relating to transitions, in addition to general responsibility for project
    • Working closely with the accounts department to ensure standard costs are maintained and updated in a timely manner. Advising of changes in standard cost following cost reduction / increase and creation of new materials.
    • Providing buddy cover for the operational/strategic buyers during vacation or sickness periods. Where necessary responsible for delegating workload to complete tasks to deadlines.
    • Minimizing financial and obsolete inventory risk
    • Responsible for the risk mitigation process for all customer/supplier/HF Owed tooling.
    • Responsible for maintaining the master document for the dollar transfer project to provide input to senior management reports
    • Purchasing owner and coordinator for weekly PPAP meeting

    What we're looking for...
    • HND or similar in a business-related discipline preferred and/or CIPS
    • Experience within a similar purchasing / supply chain role
    • Experience of working in a manufacturing/engineering environment essential
    • Project Management experience
    • Experience of manufacturing techniques and processes beneficial

    As an Engineer within Technical Support, you will be reposnsible for providing technical advice and expertise to both HydraForce Customers and Internal Departments such as Applications, Design, Quality, Manufacturing and Customer Services, aswell as supporting our Regional Sales Managers to ensure the effective provision of information and advice that meets our customer needs.

    As the Senior IT Systems Administrator you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining components of the technology architecture and combining deep technical expertise, exceptional design and implementation skills. You will also lead in the systems support and technology projects delivery responsibilities and participate in defining the strategic technology direction.


    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Provide full desktop and network support to internal customers, ensuring effective and timely resolution of issues and problems whilst minimising risks to the business

    We are seeking additional members to support our production teams. Successful candidates will be able to provide full and flexible support to all functions of the Manifold and Valve assembly processes.

    Duties & Responsibilities include:
    • Accurately follow technical drawings process instructions to ensure the efficient preparation and build of product in line with company standards.
    • Assembling manifolds and cartridge valves, following work to list and ensuring quality is maintained throughout all of the process.
    • Ensure that quality standards are maintained by following instructions and reporting any issues to Team Leader or Line Manager.
    • Operate small machinery (driller, pin-marking, Auto hand tools, semi auto lifting equipment and test rigs) in accordance with company instructions and processes.

    Qualifications & Experience:
    • Educated to a good standard - NVQ levels 1 or 2 or equivalent, preferred
    • Mechanical/assembly/engineering experience and background
